This is an article about Instagram, Facebook, my confused brain and why I am not going to get Alzheimers.
Intro: I have had an Insta-account for a long time but never used it. Then, my account was hacked, it was shut down, I had to start over, etc. etc. Many of us have been there.
My challenge at the time, was to figure out Instagram and how it could serve me as an artist. As I am writing this, I am proud to announce, that I now have 90+ followers. Hurrah! Gut Ding will Weile haben.
As I am slowly finding my way through the Insta jungle, I learn, that Instagram now wants to be like Tiktok, regular posts are OUT. All right, I’m thinking. I am always up for a challenge. Also I hear, that as you figure out stuff, new synapsis are created in the brain, which helps prevent Dementia and possibly Alzheimer.
A challenge a day, keeps Dementia away! (I will get back to you on that one in 20 years or so!)
As I am having fun making my reels, I decide to reactivate Facebook, where I have a lot of friends. And, oh wonder, I don’t need to make separate posts or reels, I just click the option “post on facebook” and off it goes to my facebook feed as well. Meta, you are a marvel!
It worked. Until it didn’t.
Recently I noticed that this feature doesn’t work anymore. Probably me, I think. I just need to be more careful when I post. I must be overlooking something….. So, I am being careful, trying not to overlook anything. But for the live of me, it still wouldn’t work! Meta, you stink!
Then, one day, as I am creating a reel, I notice a lot of new features. I don’t think much of it and carry on. As I am ready to post, I am asked, if I want to post my reel on Instagram. I am confused (again). I AM on Instagram.
Nope, I am NOT. I had created a reel on facebook by mistake, where they had added an improved version of reel creating. It is now possible to repost from Facebook to Instagram but not from Instagram to Facebook. Savvy Meta! You got me there!
Here some appropriate responses: “Just glitches baby” or, “you simply don’t get it dummie! “ or “I agree, super annoying, but what can you do?” or “I am being manipulated into spending my precious time, wasting away my life on social media, while real life is slipping by, without me noticing, and when I wake up from this social media nightmare, I am old and sick and I realize that I never accomplished anything and then I die!”.
Woahwoahwoah!! Hold your horses (I did not see that one coming… )
Just wait a minute for the moral of the story: The more you get confused and the more stuff you need to figure out, the more synapsis are going to be created in your brain and the greater the chance becomes that it will be healthy for a long, long time! Meta you are wonderful!
So thank you for creating all this confusion and helping me to prevent the decline of my brain capacity! Human kind will be forever grateful!
