This thread painting was inspired by an article in the Neue Zürcher Zeitung from August 30, 2022.
It reported, that Indio Tanaru, the last remaining man of an indigenous Amazon tribe, was found in his hammock covered in parrot feathers, resting in eternal sleep.
Due to the magnitude of this incident, I decided to pay tribute to him and all of his kind, who must endure a similar fate, all the while progress keeps plowing on and on.
My tribute is not measured in the size of the work, but in the time spend while creating it.
Second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour day by day, week by week, month by month.
It will contuinue to grow, as a symbol and counter movement to what is happening in the Amazon rain forest and elsewhere in the world.

Long, long ago, with the wish to illustrate a picture story, I set out to improve my drawing skills.
More than 20 years later, I returned to my initial idea and created it.
Die grosse Reise was inspired by a children’s book from my childhood, telling the story of a lone leaf, hanging onto his tree branch with all its might, before getting carried away by the wild, wild autumn wind.
I used many fun and happy techniques to tell this story, which was illustrated during a phase of utter boredom and disillusionment with oil painting.
Experimenting without expectations, sparked new ideas and marks a new beginning for my artistic live.
And so, I will live happily ever after.
